Most of the roofs we paint are sound underneath. They have just gone chalky, or the colour has faded off the north side, or the house has been repainted and the roof now looks like it belongs to a different building.

A paint job starts with a proper clean, because membrane won't stick to lichen. Then primer, then two coats. The part people forget is the trim. If you coat the sheets and leave the gutters, fascia, downpipes and verandah posts as they were, you get a new roof sitting on top of a tired roofline and it reads as a patch job. We do them in the same visit.

Colour is the bit worth taking your time over. A screen never gets Colorbond right, so the fan deck comes to the house and you hold the chips against your own bricks in your own light.

What a paint job includes

  • High pressure clean and a moss and lichen treatment
  • Any loose or flaking coating removed back to a sound surface
  • Rust treated and primed on metal roofs
  • Primer or sealer, then two full coats of membrane
  • Gutters, fascia, downpipes and verandah posts to match
  • Real Colorbond chips brought to the house at the measure
  • Cut in around solar panels, vents, flues and skylights

How it goes, start to finish

  1. 1

    A call or an address

Give us a ring or send the address, and we'll arrange a time to come out and quote.

  2. 2

    Colour at the house

The fan deck comes with us. You pick it against your own bricks, in your own light, not off a screen.

  3. 3

    A free quote

You'll know what it costs before anything starts, and it costs you nothing to find out.

  4. 4

    The work

Clean, dry, prime, two coats. Then the after photos so you can see it from angles you never get to stand at.

Questions we get asked

Can you paint a Colorbond roof?

Yes. It needs different prep to tile, a wash and a metal primer rather than a sealer, and any rust dealt with first. It's a common job around here on older sheds and homes where the original coating has chalked off.

Which colour should we go?

The ones we get asked for most around here are Cottage Green, Monument, Surfmist, Woodland Grey and Pale Eucalypt. Lighter colours keep a tile roof cooler through summer. Darker ones sit better on brick. We bring the chips so you aren't guessing.

Will you work around our solar panels?

Yes. We cut in around panels, vents, flues and skylights. It slows the job down a little and we price it that way rather than pretending it doesn't.

Do we have to be home?

No. Plenty of the work we do is for people who aren't there, holiday houses at the lake included. We send photos as it goes.
