Before you book
Legal
Short version: we use your details to respond to your enquiry and arrange any roof work you choose to go ahead with.
If you fill in the enquiry form we collect your name, phone number, email address, the suburb and address of the roof, what you have told us about the job, and any photographs you attach.
If you ring or email us we keep that correspondence so we can find it later when you ask us about the job.
The site records basic anonymous usage information such as which pages are visited, so we can tell whether it's working.
The site tells Google and Meta (the company behind Facebook and Instagram) about enquiries, so we can see which of our ads bring in work and stop paying for the ones that don't.
Google's tag sets its own cookies, records the pages you visit, and tells Google Ads when someone taps our phone number or sends the enquiry form. When you send the form, your email address and mobile number go with it, scrambled in your browser (hashed) before they leave it, so Google can match the enquiry to an ad you clicked.
Meta has a small piece of code on the site, the Meta pixel. It sets cookies and records the pages you visit, when you tap our phone number and when you send the form.
When you send the form, our server also tells Meta an enquiry was made. That message carries your email address, mobile number, first and last name, country and our own reference number for your enquiry, each hashed, plus your IP address, browser details, the page you sent it from, the kind of job you picked and Meta's own cookie values.
Google Ads and Meta aren't given your address, your roof details, your notes or your photos. Google Analytics records the kind of job and roof you pick, without your contact details. You can block these cookies in your browser, or change how ads are shown to you in your Google and Facebook ad settings.
Quoting your job, doing your job, and invoicing you for your job. The only other use is the ad measurement described above.
We don't sell your details to anyone, and we don't pass them to other trades or to lead generation companies.
The website and the enquiry system are run for us by Echo Studios, so the details you send arrive in a system they maintain on our behalf. They don't use your details for anything of their own.
Google and Meta receive what's described under Advertising and cookies above, and handle it under their own privacy policies.
If you're making an insurance claim, the quote we give you is yours to pass on to your insurer.
Job records and invoices are kept for seven years, which is what Australian tax law requires.
Enquiries that never became jobs are kept for about two years in case you come back, and then deleted.
Ring us on 0400 973 695 or email mcdfamily1@bigpond.com and ask. You can have a copy of what we hold about you, have it corrected if it's wrong, or have it deleted, except for records we're legally required to keep.
If you aren't happy with how we've handled it you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
